The objective of this article was to investigate the sustainability of the agroextractivist systems developed in the southern region of the state of Amapa under the criteria of agroecology, with the development of a socioenvironmental research in the areas with a strong extractivist tradition to evaluate the association agriculture with collection activities in agroextractivist family units. The two systems evaluated in socioenvironmental research were Brazil nuts and agriculture and acai and agriculture. Altogether, 60 forms were applied, of which 30 were in the spaces characterized by chestnut and agriculture and 30 in the spaces of the acai system and agriculture. The research required the construction of indicators of sustainability (social, economic and environmental), with weights, for the comparison between the two systems analyzed. The construction of socioenvironmental sustainability indicators was possible through the use of 879 variables (47 in the environmental indicator, 399 in the social indicator and 433 in the economic indicator) categorical type distributed in activities with potential negative direct impacts on the environment and the quality of life of the populations that survive from agro-extractivism in southern Amapa. The results showed that the diff erences in sustainability are small in favor of the chestnut system. It can be affi rmed that socio-environmental sustainability in the two production systems on a high, medium and low scale in the range of 0 to 1, is in a situation of average socio-environmental sustainability, measured in the 3 indicators, which is within the expected for the spaces of special use for agroextractivism in Amapa." @default.
