EnglishTwo sides of the same coin appear while analysing tourism in Spain: the dichotomy between coastal and inland areas. Some coastal destinations have overtourism experiences while inland areas aim at promoting tourism as a dynamization strategy that would slow down depopulation. The current work gathers the main quantitative results of the latest researches of TUDISTAR group. It focuses on 12 cases and develops different indicators with the goal of obtaining an accurate image of different territories and tourism products at different stages of their development. The theory of micro-clusters created around innovative tourism products to promote local development and improve territorial resilience is central and the position of each case in its own resilience adaptive cycle has been analysed. The results show that even having a large tourism potential, good regional planning is required to induce the capacity of the tourism activity as a local, endogenous and small-scale catalyst. Inland tourism clusters can have a positive impact on local economies and help curb depopulation, mainly in times of essential resilience and proximity tourism. In short, this study avocates for a tourism offer that promotes territorial balance to face the polarization between an overturistified periphery-coastline and an underturistified peripheral-marginal inland." @default.
