- W3107035561 abstract "Abstract The AlNi and AlFe bulk models were established to compare the effect of nanoscale Al-based intermetallic compound interface layers on the Mg alloy/steel welded joints using the first principle. The adsorption models of Mg atoms at different positions on the (0 1 1 ¯ ) surfaces of AlNi and AlFe were established firstly to calculate the adsorption energy and the electronic properties. The results show that AlNi is a tough material with a small elastic anisotropy index while AlFe is a brittle material with an extensive elastic anisotropy index. The chemical absorption is formed between the Mg atom and AlNi/AlFe surface based on the adsorption energy calculation results. The Mg-Ni and Mg-Fe metallic bonds are developed when the Mg atom is absorbed on AlNi and AlFe surface, respectively. The calculated results guide the future design of the nanoscale interface layer for Mg alloy and steel welding." @default.
