- W3112012108 abstract "The article contains mathematical modeling and research of electromagnetic processes in electrotechnological systems with induction heating using additional conductive medium (concentrator). A number of electrotechnological processes carried out using induction heating, along with the inductor, include this intermediate conductive medium. Such processes include melting, for example, induction melting of oxides in a cold crucible, heat treatment of crankshaft elements, hardening of external and internal cylindrical surfaces of various parts, heating using concentrators, etc. In devices implementing such technological processes, a metal hollow cylindrical part can be considered as an intermediate conducting medium. If this part was a cylinder without slits or gaps, during operation of the system, a noticeable weakening of the magnetic field inside such a medium, that is, in the space occupied by the workpieces, would occur. Therefore, in this additional medium, there is one or more slots or gaps. The presence of slots in the conducting medium leads to the equality of the magnetic field strengths on the inner and outer radiuses of the cylinder, as well as to a change in the direction of the current to the opposite on the inner surface of the additional medium, compared with the outer surface. The article also presents the calculation of inductors for heating solid and hollow cylinders with an intermediate conducting medium with a slot. As a result of the calculations, graphs of the distribution of the strength of the magnetic and electric fields, the current density in the intermediate medium were obtained with and without taking into account the presence of water cooling in the form of channels inside the additional medium. When designing an inductor with an intermediate conducting medium, the parameters of the inductor are determined separately when taking into account the additional medium and the part, and then the energy characteristics are calculated based on the total influence of the medium and the part. A methodology for calculating the integral parameters in the devices under consideration with the presence of an additional conducting medium is presented." @default.
