- W3112343358 abstract "In this chapter, the authors propose the structure, the experimentation, and the numerical modeling of a multistage solar desalination system (MSD), installed at Douar Al Hamri, in the rural commune of Boughriba of the Province of Berkane in Morocco. The main objective of this pilot station is to ensure the production of drinking water to the inhabitants of Douar by solar energy. The MSD system consists of a lower basin and eight horizontal stages, and a field of four flat thermal collectors with a total area of 8.4 m2. The first results, from an experiment with the MSD system at Douar, during one day in the winter month of January 2020, show intensities of irradiance and ambient temperature which reach 824 W/m2 and 23°C respectively. The maximum values of the temperatures of the stages (lower basin and eight stages) vary from 84°C to 42°C. The modeling of these results, using thermal equations, implemented during this work, shows a very good agreement between the experiment and the simulations. The authors have deduced coefficients of global heat losses of the collectors (U L ) and convective exchange with the exterior (h amb ) respectively of the order of 6 and 9 W/m2⋅K. The analysis of all the results and their comparisons with the literature clearly show the good functioning of the blocks of the MSD system, implemented during this work, in terms of heating the stages with solar thermal energy." @default.
