• W3114321901 abstract "In order to improve the mechanical properties of the poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide(PMIA) fiber, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)(PVP) was blended with PMIA as a functional component. High-strength PMIA/PVP composite fibers were prepared by wet spinning, and the properties of the solutions and fibers were characterized by polarized light microscopy (PLM) and rheology measurements, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), fiber mechanical strength tester, scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric(TG), limiting oxygen index(LOI) instrument and so on. The results showed that the addition of PVP can effectively weaken the hydrogen bonding between the PMIA molecular chains. The breaking strength of the composite fiber (3.85 cN/dtex) was much higher than that of the pristine PMIA fiber (2.71 cN/dtex), and the elongation at break of composite fibers was 170% higher than that of pristine PMIA fiber. The heat resistance and flame retardancy of the composite fibers had hardly decreased. Composite fibers can still meet the requirements of flame retardant clothing. Compared with pristine PMIA fiber, PMIA/PVP composite fiber will have greater application prospects." @default.
