- W3118492877 abstract "An investigation was carried out to improve the seismic performance of concrete columns reinforced with high-strength steel bars and subsequently retrofitted with vertical and horizontal carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips. Seven columns were constructed and tested under constant axial and cyclic lateral loading. The results showed that attaching CFRP vertical strips in or over grooves outperformed conventional externally bonded reinforcement, as evidenced by greater energy dissipation and strength. Furthermore, the use of corner strip–battens for the horizontal CFRP strips was found to outperform conventional wrapping, as evidenced by greater ductility and energy dissipation. Confining stresses were also more uniformly distributed and strip rupture shifted from the edges to the mid-sides of the section." @default.
