- W3118540448 abstract "I start with a set of observations-indigenous peoples have certain social constructs useful in facing critical global issues that threaten to destabilize and possibly bring down contemporary capitalist-controlled market economies and countries. I identify indigenous social systems with respect to globalization (Hall and Fenelon 2008; 2009), using world-system analysis, with strong doses of resistance and revitalization discussions from earlier works, including the United States’ intentional destruction of “culture” and collective organizing by Native Nations (Fenelon 1998). The modern world-system has “developed” into a set of global crises that put the entire world into conflict and increasing chaos. Premier among these crises are competitive strong states during the hegemonic decline of the United States, associated with global climate change-partly the result of centuries of unrestrained industrial development. I observe early development of the modern world as European expansion and colonization of the Western Hemisphere, fueled by wealth production and resource extraction from Native Nations. Ultimately this gave rise to state structures in North America that industrialized, building capitalism into powerful economies. Here we see crises of centralized systems and their militaries, operating globally in neoliberalism and based on systemic production of inequality." @default.
