- W3119632521 abstract "Gender equality and the empowerment of girls and women became a popular debate within the discussion on sustainability since its establishment in 2015 as a sustainable development goal by the United Nations 2030 agenda, due to the fact that several issues related to the economic, social and environmental spheres impact women and men differently. In this sense, education emerges as a gender equality driver once it improves women’s access to productive assets, resources and opportunities, such as sustainability education, training and employment; this results in an adequate standard of living that contributes to women’s bargaining power within the family and the community, and the creation of a sustainable equality. From this perspective, this article uses a literature review to present the importance of women’s education for the promotion of sustainable development, contributing to future studies and the creation of public policies related to gender equality." @default.
