- W3120222491 abstract "TOLERÂNCIA EM NORBERTO BOBBIO: REFLEXOES EM TEMPOS DE RADICALIZACAOTOLERANCE IN THE WORK OF NORBERTO BOBBIO: REFLECTIONS IN TIMES OF RADICALIZATIONData da submissao: 09/08/2020Data da aprovacao: 17/09/2020Resumo: Problematizou-se a contribuicao de Norberto Bobbio a questao da tolerância. Abstract It was problematized the contributions of Norberto Bobbio to the topic of tolerance. A literature review was conducted using textbooks and scientific articles. It was found that tolerance towards different opinions is a matter of how theoretical and practical perspectives on truth agree and clash with each other. It was realized that tolerance, as it relates to majorities and minorities coexisting, is concerned with the issue of prejudice and discrimination, that the practical-political reasons behind tolerance refer to an implicit agreement of non-persecution and peaceful concurrence, that the practical-methodological reasons behind tolerance reflect a manifestation of acceptance of others’ rationality and reasonability, that the practical-moral reasons behind tolerance assume the prevalence of a moral of respect and benevolence towards others, and that the theoretical reasons behind tolerance are built upon the premise that tolerance is immanent to the nature of truth. A relationship was established between the utilitarian and pragmatic purpose of tolerance and competitive authoritarianism. It was underlined that tolerance, when in the service of persuasion, risks turning into intolerance, and that tolerance must mirror a level of psychological maturity. It was emphasized that the existential project of former activists of extremist movements must be reconstructed. Keywords: Norberto Bobbio; tolerance; intolerance; extremism." @default.
