The various process of EDM: die sinking EDM, wire EDM (WEDM), EDM milling, and wire electrical discharge grinding (WEDG). Principle behind EDM process is thermo-electric source between the job and an electrode. Majorly electrical discharge machining parameters are usually evaluated on the basis of surface roughness (SR), MRR (MRR), cutting speed (V), and tool wear rate (TWR). The vital electrical discharge machining parameter affecting to the characteristic measures of the course is Ip, arc gap, Ton, and Toff. Numerous approaches are proposed in the past to resolve the problems such as to optimize the condition of higher MRR, and improvement in surface finish and lower SR with low tool wear rates are achieved with various optimization techniques. A substantial work has been reported by the researchers on the EDM performance for various materials on the basis of parameters. It is observed that a review of the diverse approaches developed previously would aid to assess their foremost prospects and their advantages or boundaries in which the majority of materials have to be machined so as to choose the most appropriate approach for a meticulous application based on the material and also tells about the prospects that need further consideration.
