- W3120977801 abstract "All biological signaling cascade involves electrical and electrochemical impulses. So, the relevant question is “can we find a way to functionally combine biological machine-like human body to manmade electronic devices to achieve superior advances in biotechnology and medicine?”. Integrative and collaborative research works are going among scientists of electronics, molecular engineering, life sciences, and nanotechnology. The outcomes will be development of versatile nano-biointerfaces where nanomaterials will interact with biological entities at organs, tissues, cells, and subcellular (cell membrane, organelles, DNA and protein) level through dynamic interactions that can be modulated through proper programming of nanoparticles properties such as surface chemistry, size, shape, dimension, and topographic structure. In this book chapter, different strategies for the applications of these interfaces for controlled drug delivery have been discussed. This chapter contains detailed discussion on programming, triggering and controlling the release of therapeutic agents by different electroactive polymers like polypyrrole, polyaniline, poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene); and carbon nanomaterials like carbon nanotube, and graphene oxide sheet. The strategies of designing different controlled release delivery devices like nanopump, nanomotor, and biochip have also been discussed." @default.
