- W3122349527 abstract "Prescriptions for management accountants to become pro-active internal business consultants have not been matched by corresponding indications of appropriate patterns of motivation and behaviour. The argument presented here is that these prescriptions are more likely to be realised if management accountants possess or can develop a learning goal orientation. This contrasts with a performance goal orientation, which is likely to deter the required behaviour. Furthermore, the goal orientations may themselves be influenced by management accountants' perceptions of their leaders behaviour. Supporting evidence is provided by analysis of a postal questionnaire survey of professionally qualified management accountants working in the United Kingdom. The survey is an early stage of a multi-method research programme in which the main method of investigation will be by means of case studies." @default.
