• W3123651653 abstract "I show that after controlling for county fixed effects, the annual number of extreme weather events (EWEs) sustained by a US county significantly improves the subsequent rating of the climate mitigation policies of a firm headquartered in that county. I also find that more recent EWEs have a more pronounced effect on climate ratings than more distant ones. For the utility industry I provide evidence that flooding events positively affect both managerial concerns for climate risk as reflected in 10-Ks/10-Qs/8-Ks and climate ratings. These results suggest that managerial experiential processing of weather information is important in determining corporate climate mitigation policies." @default.
