- W3126109095 abstract "The problem of the implementation of the CO2 laser in medical surgery stands since 1960, when Mayan used the ruby laser. In 1963, as biological properties of this laser were not satisfactory, the CO2 laser was introduced, working with 10,6 microns length of wave, which is accepted well by biological tissues. The initial report by Strong, Jako and Vaughan from the hospital of Boston in 1971 was encouraging. The CO2 laser is used in Europe- 1976 by Charles Frech head of the ENT university clinic of hospital Foch. One year later a collaborator of us spent two months in the same clinic. It was the first contact of application of CO2 laser in otorhinolaryngology, and it happened in 1981 after 8 months of practice in France. Since 1987, when we bought the Sharplan 1040 CO2 laser, we did more of 3500 operations especially pre-cancerous states, laryngeal juvenile papillomatosis, phonosurgery, cancer of the larynx, oropharyngeal surgery, etc. This report concerns the most frequent pathology in otorhinolaryngology – an object of the CO2 laser surgery. The problem of education of this surgery is also concerned." @default.
