- W3126174772 abstract "Gold clusters have been recently documented as a novel nanogold material, especially in the catalysis. Metal nanoparticles occupy an important niche in chemical transformations. Very recently, remarkable advances have been achieved in the synthesis of small-sized clusters in solution phase. In this chapter, the authors introduce well-defined Au clusters as a novel promising nanocatalyst. The activation of H2 gas over gold nanoparticles is deemed as the pivotal step during the hydrogenation process. Recently, metal clusters have emerged as a novel photosensitizer for the formation of singlet oxygen using visible light. Over the decades, the outstanding applications of gold clusters have been well explored and developed in the homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic processes, leading to a novel perspective for nanocatalysis, especially in CO oxidation to CO2, selective sulfoxidation to sulfoxide, hydrogenation of aldehydes to alcohol, semihydrogenation of alkynes into alkenes, aerobic oxidation of amines into imines, and one-pot conversion of furfural with ethanol to produce biofuel." @default.
