- W3126412701 abstract "Strategies to control the occurrence of skin cancer are actively pursued by preventing the formation in the precancerous stage and reversing or slowing down the pathological process using synthetic or natural products. Olives and their derivatives have been applied as a medicine since ancient times. They are largely consumed in the diet of the population of Mediterranean countries. Oleuropein is one of the major phenolic compounds that can be found in olives, leaves, pulps, and seeds of the olive plants. Oleuropein has shown various pharmacological potentials with its antioxidant, antimigration, antiproliferation, and antiinflammatory properties. This chapter will elaborate the potential usage of oleuropein against two types of skin cancers: melanoma and nonmelanoma (basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma) using in vitro and in vivo models." @default.
