- W3128165714 abstract "While domestic violence (DV) has been widely researched, much of this research has focused on certain groups in society, including children living in households where DV occurs, mothers, older people, and the LGBTQ community. Despite there being a great deal of research exploring DV among the ‘middle-years population’ (MYP) (i.e. women and men between the ages of 30 and 65), this group is rarely singled out for the purpose of analysis. In many ways, this age group is simultaneously included and excluded; included, in that many studies include samples of people aged 30–65, yet excluded for rarely being purposefully identified as a group with unique needs and characteristics. The purpose of this chapter is to begin to address this imbalance and explore some of the complexities inherent to the MYP. We undertook a rapid literature search for studies which explore DV among women and men aged 30–65, or thereabouts, and identified that there is a significant amount of research relating to this age group. We present the most interesting insights from this literature search, coupled with our own experiences of the topic, as an exploration of current literature and ideas." @default.
