Abundant and usable in many fields, solar energy can address long-term energy and freshwater reductions around the world. Currently, several experiments have used solar energy to increase the effectiveness of evaporation, solar desalination and waste water disposal, as it is the base for freshwater treatment. One of the modern approaches to do this is called a “hydrogel,” which has multiple properties. This review examines the different types of hydrogels used for solar desalination and thus produces freshwater. As a new light-absorbing material, Hydrogel is an efficient approach for improving the conversion of photothermal solar efficiency by reducing heat loss on the air–water interface due to heat localization in the heat transfer process. Thus, this paper's main objective is to find the best hydrogel materials with an excellent evaporation rate and produce large amounts of fresh water from the available seawater or brine." @default.
