- W3128487198 abstract "Soil type and crop rotation are the most important factors affecting on the causal agent of potato brown rot disease Ralstonia solanacearum. The effect of soil type, soil pH and previous crop in agricultural rotation are of fundamental importance on persistence of the causal organism. The reduction rate of the pathogen was higher in clay loam compared to sandy loam. Application of suitable agronomic practices which led to decreasing pH value lower than 7.2 or increase more than 7.7, might be useful for controlling the causal agent. Crop rotation is considered an important agricultural procedure in reducing the weed in potato fields and then decreasing the incidence of potato brown rot disease. The number of weed varieties as hosts for R. solanacearum is very great. It causes disease at least of 200 different plant species, including herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. It has an important impact on disease management based on crop rotation. There is increasing evidence of hosts which under certain condition act as latent or symptomless carriers of infection. Previous researches indicated that Potato–Rice crop rotation was more effective in decline the population density of R. solanacearum rather than Potato–Maize and Potato–Peanut. This chapter focuses on the biotic capabilities of R. solanacearum in relation to dispersion, survival and effects which might be important in planning operative management against the pathogen." @default.
