- W3129121900 abstract "Artificial neural network (ANN) was used as a tool to study the effect of organic and inorganic carbon sources on biomass production and astaxanthin accumulation of Haematococcus pluvialis. According to the Garson’s algorithm, potassium acetate (CH3CO2K) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) have a significant effect on the biomass production of H. pluvialis, whereas astaxanthin accumulation is highly induced by NaHCO3 and magnesium acetate (Mg(CH3CO2)2). Thus, the ANN-derived response surfaces for biomass production and astaxanthin accumulation were obtained by varying the two most vital carbon sources indicated by Garson’s algorithm. Accordingly, a maximum biomass concentration of 8.83 g/L could be achieved by the addition of 20 mM CH3CO2K and 10 mM NaHCO3 to the culture media, while addition of 10 mM NaHCO3 and 10 mM Mg(CH3CO2)2 to the culture media would yield a maximum astaxanthin concentration of 197.64 mg/L." @default.
