- W3130086688 abstract "This study was to investigate the effect of alkaline water Siana water supplementation on anaerobic capacity and fatigue index, free oxygen species, and anti-oxidant capacity during and after the Wingate bicycle ergometer test in healthy and young men. Following an overnight fasting (~8hours), all the subjects were reported to the laboratory in a random, and they were asked to orally consume Siana water or placebo (7㎖/㎏body weight) in a double-blinded design and took 40 minutes of resting in the laboratory with a comfortable position. Then each subject was asked to perform three trials of the 30s Wingate bicycle ergomerter test in a row with 3 minutes of resting period between each trial. Venous blood samples were taken in the fasting state, before the Wingate test, 1 minute and 15 minutes after the Wingate test for free oxygen radicals, free oxygen radicals defense capacity, and lactate in circulating plasma. In this current study, we found a significant time by treatment interaction effect (P＝0.04) in mean power output such that the overall decrease in the mean power appeared to be less in the Siana water trial than in the placebo one. Regardless of the treatments, however, we found significant decreases in peak power output (P＝<0.001) with concomitantly significant increases in plasma lactate concentrations (P＝<0.001) in both trials. In addition, there were tendencies for both the free oxygen radicals and free oxygen radicals defense capacity to increase during and following the Wingate test, but with no significant time by treatment interaction effects. In conclusion, it appears that the Siana water supplementation may induce some benefits of improving the Wingate test-measured anaerobic capacity. However, the current finding of the study are needed to be confirmed in further large-scale studies using different doses of supplementation, exercise/training mode and time." @default.
