In the last few years, the rapid advancement made in the nano-enabled devices has enhanced the quality of food products, and also assisted in reducing the economic losses occurring every year due to pest and pathogens. To achieve the agricultural sustainability, the nanobiotechnology-enabled agricultural system deploys minimum agricultural inputs for optimum food production as well as reduced the agricultural wastages before its reach to consumer level. The nanosensors when communicated with actuate electronic devices help in the allocation of water and agrochemicals by functioning as an automated system, through an optimized control system, and therefore, play a critical role in high-throughput plant-chemical phenotyping. In this way, nano-enabled devices have eminent potential to improve agricultural productivity using limited resources and at affordable prices. Nanoparticles have attracted the attentions of researchers and industries across the world for their potential and successful exploitation in plant disease management deployed as nano-based products including nanofertilizer, nanofungicides, nanopesticides. Nanoparticles developed in the form of fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, nanochips, dendrimers, nanosensors have shown to bear unusual physical, chemical, and biological features, completely absent in their naturally occurring pure form or bulk molecules. The high surface-to-volume ratio enabled nanoparticles with higher reactivity and biological activities, and also possess strong affinity to their targets particularly, proteins. Nanoparticles-based sensors are used for detection of pathogens or to detect compounds, indicative to disease conditions, jasmonic acid, methyl jasmonate, salicylic acid with the help of sensitive electrochemical sensors. Several microorganisms have been found to produce nanoparticles in substrates and numerous metallic nanoformulations have been developed such as gold nanoformulations accommodating Verticillium, Penicillium, Trichothecium, Fusarium oxysporum, or silver-based nanoformulations including spores of Fusarium semitectum, Alternaria alternata, Phytophthora infestans, Trichoderma spp., or nanoformulations developed on both gold- and silver-based nanoformulations like spores of Brevibacterium casei, Bacillus subtilis. In the scenario of rapid climatic change events nanotechnology has strong potential to tackle challenges associated with increased quality, enriched food demands, and issues related to loss of agricultural productivity through management of required agrochemicals and rapid diagnosis of pest and pathogens." @default.
