The identification of useful genetic and metabolic variability in the form of landraces and wild relatives is helping for harvest diversification and broadening of the cultivated melon genetic base. Whereas significant information on melon genomics, and melon metabolomics, is advantageous for dissecting the inheritance of quintessential traits.
