In the present study, novel Al2O3/GO cellulose based 3D-hydrogel was synthesized using green synthesized Aluminium oxide Nanoparticles (Al2O3 NPs) and graphene oxide (GO). Developed hydrogel displayed a 3D network porous structure consisted of 2D sheets (GO), with the uniform dispersion of Al2O3 onto the cellulose matrix. Green route was utilized for Al2O3 NPs synthesis using wastes produced during oil extraction from Syzygium aromaticum (clove) and chemically GO was synthesized using pencil lead. Synthesized nanomaterials were characterized through analytical techniques such as FESEM, XRD, EDX and FTIR which has been employed for adsorption of F− from drinking water. Batch adsorption studies for F− were conducted with varying pH, adsorbent dose, initial F− concentration and time. Maximum percentage removal was obtained for 2 and 10 mg L-1 F− concentration as 92.5 and 25.6% at pH 5 and 120 min. F− adsorption capacity attained was 5.34 mg g−1 at pH 5 in 120 min. Adsorption isotherm for F− confirmed that Langmuir model (0.956) was more favorable than Freundlich. Pseudo-second-order kinetics (R2 = 0.998) was fitted better and confirmed the chemisorption processes for F−." @default.
