They are emerging pollutants of surface and ground waters, and their environmental remediation can be carried out by means of physical, physicochemical, and/or biological methods. The objective of this chapter is to offer a view of the state-of-the-art in the utilization of adsorption techniques to remove tetracyclines and two herbicides, diuron, and amitrole, selected as model EDs. Adsorption is a physical method that involves a phase transfer from aqueous solution to a solid (adsorbent), which should subsequently be regenerated for its reutilization. The adsorbents used to remove the above-mentioned EDs were carbon materials, silicates and silica, metal organic frameworks, metal oxides and hydroxides, organic polymers, and biomaterials." @default.
