- W3134080771 abstract "The most vital function of the human body is breathing. How breathing has been performed has a great impact on our bodies. Nasal breathing is normal breathing. Mouth breathing in human beings is breathing through the mouth instead of through the nose. Major concerns among all the medical specialists are on the development of the dentition and dentofacial deformities due to mouth breathing. Mouth breathing has a major impact on the development of the maxillofacial region, occlusion and muscle tonus. Not limited to this type of fatigue but also in mouth breathing the air is received directly into the lungs without being cleansed, warmed, and moistened and it tends to lift the palate high and this leads to harmful lung and heart diseases. Thus, habitual mouth breathing has serious implications on an individual's lifelong health, including the development of facial structures. Approaching this issue with an engineering mind, this paper presents an innovative idea of Arduino based prototype model “Mouth Breathing Controller (MBC)” to overcome the habit of mouth breathing in children of age group 9 years old and above as well as in adults. The uniqueness of the proposed model lies in its novel approach to treating serious mouth breathing problem which will help all medical and dental professionals." @default.
