- W3134766161 abstract "Aims & Objectives: Pediatric Sepsis has been explored worldwide. However, knowledge about regional differences within a same country is scarce. We describe Sepsis Prevalence (SP) and its Mortality(SM) in different Argentinean Healthcare Regions(HR) categorized according to their local Infant Mortality Rate(IMR) and Population Poverty Percentage(%P). Methods: Secondary analysis of SATI-Q Program Database. We included patients admitted with severe sepsis or septic shock to 47 public/private Argentinean PICUs; age 1-216 months; period 1-1-2010 to 31-12-2018. Each admission was categorized according to its location into the 5 HR. Each region was categorized according to their IMR and %P (official country data). SP and mortality were determined for each region and adjusted by IMR and %P. Mortality was also adjusted by PIM2 Results: 3777 patients were analyzed. Global SP was 8.3% (95%CI: 8-8.6). Regional prevalence: Patagonia 5.6(4.4-7.02); Center 7.5(7.2-7.8); Cuyo 10.78(9.7-11.9); Northwest 11.03(10.15-11.9) and Northeast 16.5(14.4-18.7). The difference in prevalence within HR according to their P% was statistically significant (p <0.001).Considering Patagonia as reference (lower P %), the OR (95%CI) for SP ranged from was 1.36 (1.07-1.73) in Center to 3.3 (2.5-4.38) in Northeast region (higher %P). (Graphic 1: regional SP, SM according to IMR and %P). Global SM was 25.4%. There was no difference between regions, % P, or IMR adjusted by PIM2 score (p: 0.12)Conclusions: Although Argentina is considered an Upper Middle Income Country there are differences in pediatric SP within different HR. The regions with higher IMR and %P have higher SP. However, we didn’t find differences in mortality" @default.
