- W3134969968 abstract "X-ray spectroscopy presents great opportunities for the operando studies of catalysts. The X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray emission spectroscopy (XES) measurements are typically done at synchrotron facilities, which provide monochromatic photon beams with intensities of 1010–1013 photons per second. This high intensity is needed for fast data acquisition. For slow measurements on concentrated samples, there are growing possibilities for XAS measurements with laboratory-based X-ray spectrometers, currently providing monochromatic photon beams of c. 105–107 photons per second. This chapter summarizes the main features, advantages, limitations, and applications of different XAS, XES, and resonant methods. XES and resonant methods are chemically sensitive only if they are measured with enhanced energy resolution. Synchrotron facilities offer various possibilities for time-resolved XAS studies." @default.
