- W3135127553 abstract "The right to health is inseparable from realization of the right to freedom of movement, both of which are recognized as fundamental human rights. However, we continue to see restrictions on a woman's ability to leave her house or country used as political, religious, and social tools of oppression, limiting her right to receive the health care she desires. In this commentary, I will assess how restricting a woman's right to movement also limits her access to health care. First, I will describe why freedom of movement is an important indicator of empowerment and autonomy, especially for women. Then, I describe the factors that limit a women's movement and subsequent access to health care, especially those rooted in social, religious, and cultural norms. Lastly, I propose tangible actions that can immediately afford women access to health services by either overcoming movement restrictions or bypassing them when necessary." @default.
