In this work, we review the properties of Polyurethane which have rendered it fit to be utilized in Lighter than Air systems envelope. Lighter than Air Vehicles are those systems which rely on buoyancy force due to Lighter than Air gases for their flight. LTA Vehicles face many challenges during their life time and to overcome them is a challenging task. The fabric of the envelope must possess some inherent properties for being utilized in these applications. There is a requirement of obtaining the requisite properties within the weight consideration of the LTA system. Polyurethane holds edge over the other competitors pertaining to this category of materials deemed suitable for LTA Vehicles. The properties which give PUR an edge over other materials are reviewed. The LTA system undergoes environmentally harsh conditions during its lifetime and finding an ideal material that can sustain under these tough conditions is a priority area for researchers. The role of Polyurethane nanocomposites as the future fabric material is reviewed in this work." @default.
