- W3136494077 abstract "Repeated exposure to environmental adversities during development is considered to be closely related to the onset of treatment-resistant, refractory depression. Through the vigorous researches for exploring the new pathogenesis of depression, neurotrophic signaling change and underlying novel mechanisms have emerged as the biological aspects of this depression. Recently, it was revealed that treatment with escitalopram or adjunctive antipsychotic blonanserin those have potentials to ameliorate depressive symptoms in treatment-resistant depressive patients, also exerted behavioral recoveries and specific changes in BDNF levels in serum and nucleus accumbens in the early life combined stress-induced refractory depression model. Including these findings, in this chapter, we would like to introduce current findings which can give us fundamental evidences for understanding modern depression, represented the pivotal role of GABA/glutamate balance restoring which might be regulated by BDNF gene/protein expression and GABA interneuron genesis via actions of NMDA, and/or dopamine D3 receptor modulations in the specific regions of the disordering brain." @default.
