- W3136606174 abstract "The control of exposed facets and surface oxygen vacancies (OVs) in BiOCl has sparked huge interest in enhancing its visible-light photocatalytic activity. However, the dual control of OVs and exposed facets on BiOCl1-xBrx for sodium pentachlorophenate (PCPNa) degradation has not received much attention yet. For the first time we increased the amount of OVs on BiOCl0.95Br0.05 exposed with (001) or (010) facets via UV-light irradiation. We studied the photocatalytic activity of the obtained samples by degrading PCPNa under visible light irradiation, and found OVs and doped Br- on (010) facets-exposed BiOCl0.95Br0.05-010-OVs exhibited a synergistic effect. The degradation rate of PCPNa on BiOCl0.95Br0.05-010-OVs was about 3.5 times of the sum of that on BiOCl0.95Br0.05-010 and BiOCl-010-OVs. Differently, the photocatalytic performance of BiOCl0.95Br0.05-001-OVs only slightly increased compared to that of BiOCl-001-OVs. The synergistic photocatalytic effect of OVs and Br- over BiOCl0.95Br0.05-010-OVs was proposed to be ascribed to its more negative conduction band and higher PCPNa adsorption capacity, which was good for the direct reaction of electrons and surface .OH with PCPNa on it. Significantly, although the photocatalytic activity of all the other samples obviously decreased after placing for more than 4 months, the photocatalytic performance of BiOCl0.95Br0.05-010-OVs was obviously enhanced and the reason was explained. This study provided a new strategy for enhancing the photocatalytic activity of (010) facets-exposed BiOCl for PCPNa degradation." @default.
