- W3136941118 abstract "Abstract Polysaccharides have been applied as the favorable contenders for various biomedical applications. These have wide applicability in health sector for the purpose of diagnosis, controlled drug delivery, and in the field of tissue engineering. They are widely recognized for their unique characteristics such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, inherently low immunogenicity, and distinct bioactive properties. Etherification of polysaccharides is one of the versatile transformations that provide valuable opportunity to functionalize the polysaccharides. A number of polysaccharides such as gellan gum, cellulose, starch, alginate, dextran, chitosan, gum ghatti, locust bean gum, and pullulan gum have widely been investigated as etherified derivatives with wide application potential. This chapter encompasses the recent advances and emerging innovative research outputs in the field of polysaccharide-based biomedical applications with an emphasis on the etherified modifications of certain polysaccharides." @default.
