- W3137957691 abstract "A methodology treatment is developed for the removal of toxic metals as Cu(II) and Mn(II) from its aqueous solution using sugarcane bagasse (SB). In this study, Variety parameters like pH, contact time, adsorbent dose, and initial concentration of adsorbate were studied in batch experiments. The maximum removal capacities for Cu(II) were 96% for untreated SB and 98% for treated SB with H 2 SO 4 while for Mn(II) were found 74% for untreated SB and 86% for treated SB with H 2 SO 4 at optimum conditions. The maximum removal of Cu(II) and Mn(II) was obtained at an initial concentration of 5 ppm. It was noted that the metal ions removal capacity of this adsorbent was SB-H 2 SO 4 > SB-native, which indicated that the chemical treatment of SB enhances the biosorption of metal ions. Both Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were used to describe the adsorption isotherm. The Langmuir isotherm was found to be in good agreement with experimental data of R 2 value equal to 0.99 while R 2 value at the range (0.94-0.98) for Freundlich isotherm. The biosorption process obeys pseudo-second-order kinetics. This study showed that SB could be used as a suitable and low cost-effective adsorbent for the removal of Cu(II) and Mn(II) ions from their aqueous solutions." @default.
