- W3140205940 abstract "Objective To evaluate the feasibility and effect of transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) on guiding the occlusion of the hard-rim atrial septal defect(ASD).Methods ASD size and its rim of two hundred and ninety eight patients with the hard-rim ASD were measured by TTE on various views with color Doppler system and tissue harmonic function before occlusion.Occluding process and steadiness of occluder were monitored by TTE,and whether residual shunt was left was detected by color Doppler imaging during occlusion.The waist size of occluder was measured after releasing occluder and compared with the longest diameter of ASD measured by TTE.Results The size of ASD measured by TTE before occlusion was 3～40 mm[(20.0±8.5)mm],the size of selected occluder was 6～46 mm[(24.9±9.4)mm] and the waist size of released occluder was 3～40 mm[(20.5±8.6)mm].Fine correlation was existed between the size of ASD measured by TTE and the size of selected occluder(Y=1.11X+2.67,r=0.98,P0.0001).Excellent correlation was found between the size of ASD measured by TTE and the waist size of released occluder(Y=0.99X+0.24,r=0.99,P0.0001).Occluder was firmly fixed without falling of in all patients.Conclusions TTE with tissue harmonic function can be used to accurately measure the size of hard-rim ASD and is a feasible,effective and simple method for guiding ASD occlusion." @default.
