- W3142043925 abstract "Spectral imaging as the latest undestroyed identification method is being paid more and more attention by forensic science researchers ever since its introduction into the field.Lots of studies have proved the applicability and advantages of spectral imaging in criminal identification such as trace identification, document identification, etc. To distinct the identified materials from the background and reduce interferences in the image,it is critical to select the appropriate region of interest. In previous researches and practices, the selection of region of interest is random without objective standards. In this regard, the general law of the selection of region of interest in spectral imaging technique makes the main purpose this paper tries to solve via experiments. In this study,a series of gradate red inkpad prints' imaging cubes were acquired by Liquid Crystal Turnable Filter spectrometer.Spectral images were classified and analyzed under different regions of interest by specialist spectral imaging software packager Misystem provided by Institute of Forensic Science. This paper found that there are much more spectrum differences among various concentration regions even if the specimen is uniform.Substances were identified by spectral imaging absolutely depends on the spectrums' differences. It's clearly that selecting different regions of interest is quite important for forensic analysis and classification. It is summarized that imaging quality is affected by the selection of regions of interest and the concentration in visible scope. When selecting unique concentration region for analyzing material evidence, choosing the low consistency area is good for identifying much more substances. This method is suitable for searching trace evidence. When selecting multi-concentration regions for analyzing material evidence, the more parts selected, the better.Such operation is available to identify fingerprint, counterfeit document and so on." @default.
