- W3142820791 abstract "Long glass fibers, carbon fibers, and natural fibers have been widely used as fillers in polymeric composites. Long fiber-reinforced polymer (LFRP) composites have several advantageous characteristics including lightweight, tensile strength, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, fatigue resistance, non-flammability, and anticorrosion properties. Epoxy resins or polyepoxides are important types of matrix materials for long or continuous fibers. Consequently, long fiber-reinforced epoxy composites have been researched for high-tech applications in ballistic, aerospace, automotive, construction, and sports industries. In this chapter, fabrication and essential features of different types of long fiber-reinforced epoxy composites have been conversed. The LFRP composites have been discussed under three categories of (i) epoxy and long glass fiber composite, (ii) epoxy and long carbon fiber (LCF) composite, and (iii) epoxy and natural fiber composite. Application trends and future prospects of long fiber-reinforced epoxy composites are also deliberated." @default.
