- W3148402798 abstract "The longest chapter in the book is a meticulous report of courtroom observational research conducted in the Krakow Regional Courts in 2018 and based on our reconceptualization of power distance. This qualitative study aims to answer the question: What judge’s behaviors in judge–witness courtroom interactions increase or decrease the power distance between them? First, Chap. 3 discusses how this particular question relates to the conceptual apparatus developed in Chap. 2. Then it presents how the data were collected and analyzed, and provides a glimpse of the research site and the broader socio-political context of the study. After these detailed introductory remarks, Chap. 3 moves on to answer the main research question. This is done through meticulous reflection on distinguishable judge’s courtroom behaviors, for instance, during the swearing-in of the witness, correcting inappropriate behaviors of hearing participants, and ending the hearing. Chapter 3 concludes with comprehensive commentary on the courtroom observations conducted by the research team." @default.
