- W3149312933 abstract "Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are responsible for the formation of blood and immune cells. They have unique properties such as self-renewal and the ability to produce various types of blood cells such as white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. The number of HSCs increases with age, but their efficiency and function decrease. HSC aging is regulated by impaired self-renewal, regeneration, and immunity, leading to hematological disorders and diseases including myeloid malignancies. The DNA damage, increased ROS, cytoskeletal polarity, cellular senescence, epigenetics, and clonal selection are also responsible for HSC aging. There are several signaling pathways involved in the loss of function of HSCs with growing age such as DNA damage, DNA repair, JAK/STAT, NF-κB, mTOR, TGF-β, Wnt, ROS, and UPRmt pathways. Notably, the regenerative capacity of HSCs decreases with aging. The reversal of aging is not possible, although it can be slowed by using rejuvenating agents and senolytic drugs." @default.
