To determine the efficacy of education technologies, we need ways to evaluate education’s efficacy. We will strive for best practices for students, educators, and institutions to understand how learning happens. Both goals can be accomplished with learning analytics. Learning analytics will improve teaching by changing how we help learning processes. Learning analytical applications are gradually being implemented in higher education learning management systems. Therefore, we must consider what Learning Analytics is and how we can contribute to advancing current learning technology work. While the area of learning analytics is very promising, it remains an uninvestigated term. The benefits include centered classes, curriculum growth, student learning outcomes, actions and processes, personalized learning, improved teacher performance, job opportunities, and enhanced education study. The challenges include data monitoring, collection, assessment, analysis; lack of ties with the sciences of learning; optimization of learning environments, and ethical and privacy concerns. This overview of benefits and challenges provides students, course creators, and administrators with an integrative report on Learning Analytics’ strategies, advantages, and obstacles to make LA more successful in improving higher education and learning. We provide an overview of the evolving field of learning analytics in this chapter. A short overview follows on the benefits and drawbacks of Learning Analytics. Finally, this chapter discusses the various ethical and privacy problems involved." @default.
