The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of pulmonary NTM disease in transplant recipients. Methods: Total 19 patients who met the ATS diagnostic criteria for NTM pulmonary disease were enrolled retrospectively. Results: The proportion of gender was similar (men: 10, women: 9) and median age was 52 years old. The numbers of solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant were 14 (liver transplantation=5) and 5, respectively. NTM was isolated in 5 patients before transplantation and 14 after transplantation. Median duration from transplantation to NTM isolation was 616 days. The most common isolated pathogen was MAC (n=15) followed by M. abscessus (n=2) and M. kansasii (n=2). The common radiologic feature was nodular bronchiectatic type (68.4%). 13 patients were treated (12 medically only and other one medically and surgically). Median interval from diagnosis to start of treatment was 58 days and median duration of treatment was 328 days. 7 of 13 patients completed treatment and 1 of them had a relapse after treatment completion. 4 patients are receiving treatment and stable. 2 patients were defaulted. Conclusion: The treatment outcome of pulmonary NTM disease developed before or after organ transplantation was favorable regardless of immunocompromized status.
