The university campus is one of the most critical projects that combine education and knowledge and achieve a better future for the youth sector with the most influence in society. Therefore, the research was interested in presenting the study of the sustainability of urban design for the built environment in the university campus by identifying the components of the mental and visual image of the university built-environment and studying the extent of its integration with the three sustainability axes (environmental, economic, and social). A comparative analysis of three experiences (global, regional, and local) succeeded in achieving sustainability in the university campus's built environment. The research concluded with devising strategies that must be considered to achieve sustainability in its three aspects (environmental, economic, and social) in the urban university environment, applied in those experiences, and applied locally. Whereas the implementation of the idea of sustainability in the urban environment, in general, suffers from a delay in the developing countries in general and Egypt due to their exposure to the severe depletion of their natural resources and wealth without considering the rights of future generations or planning for their future needs. التلوث البيئي واستنزاف موارد الطبيعة وارتفاع تکلفة الطاقة کلها کانت مؤشرات قوية جعلت العالم يتجه بقوة إلى فکر الاستدامة، وکان للبيئة العمرانية التأثير الأکبر والسلبى في التلوث البيئي لذا کان التحدي الأکبر هو إقامة بيئة عمرانية ذات خصائص مستدامة من خفض استهلاک الطاقة والاستخدام الأمثل للموارد والاعتماد على الطاقات المتجددة والحفاظ على الموارد المائية وإعادة تدوير المخلفات. للحرم الجامعية أهميته المعروفة لذلک اهتم البحث  بدراسة التصميم الحضري المستدام له من خلال التعرف على مکونات الصورة الذهنية والبصرية للبيئة العمرانية الجامعية ودراسة مدى تکاملها مع محاور الاستدامة الثلاثة (البيئية، الاقتصادية، الاجتماعية). کما تم تحليل مقارن لثلاثة تجارب (عالمية وإقليمية ومحلية) وهى تجارب نجحت في تعزيز الاستدامة في البيئة العمرانية للحرم الجامعي. حيث أن تطبيق فکر الاستدامة في البيئة العمرانية عموما يعانى من تأخر في الدول النامية عامة ومصر خاصة. خلص البحث إلى استنباط استراتيجيات لتعزيز أفکار الاستدامة بجوانبها الثلاثة (البيئية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية) في البيئة العمرانية الجامعية والتي تم تطبيقها في تلک التجارب وما يمکن تطبيقه منها محليا." @default.
