- W3158914266 abstract "Molluscum contagiosum (MC) is a contagious poxvirus infection of the skin. It presents as single or multiple flesh-coloured, smooth, dome-shaped painless papules that typically have a central umbilication [1, 2]. Molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV) is transmitted through autoinoculation or to other individuals through physical contact or fomite. Thus, lesions that appear in localized area of the skin may spread to other regions of the body such as genital, perineal, pubic, and surrounding skin [3]. The conventional treatment of MC is more or less painful techniques and no single intervention has been found convincingly effective. A 44-year-old female patient presented with skin colour papules with central umbilication on her cheeks and forehead since last 1 month. The patient had so far not taken any medical treatment for the condition but was concerned that the lesions were increasing in number. Homoeopathic medicine Mercurius solubilis was prescribed in 30 potency (centesimal scale) to be taken five pills thrice in a day . No local application was prescribed. The patient was advised to follow up on a weekly basis. The lesions completely resolved within four weeks of starting treatment. Three month posttreatment follow-up showed no recurrence. Skin lesion photographs before treatment and during follow-up visits have provided documentary evidence about the effectiveness of homoeopathic treatment in MC.
