- W3161490845 abstract "The study provides a qualitative analysis of the Work Family Policy (WFP) developed to enable working mothers harmonize employment and family responsibilities in Mozambique and Tanzania. Most of WFP developed in these countries are largely influenced by the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) Conventions; The study compares WFP indicators such as maternal health protection, parenthood related leaves (maternity leave, paternity leave, and parental leave) and child care service policies developed in two countries in reference to ILO standards. Statutory provisions from both countries differ from the ILO standards, and none of the two countries had provisions or policy for public support of child care services or early child hood education. A globalization pressure for deregulation hinders the effective enforcement and implementation of WFP for employed women in these countries. The study found that there is no clear institution nationally or internationally monitors the implementation of work family policies. The study suggests; Governments to put more efforts in improving child care services and early child hood education especially for toddlers who have no place in current primary education system of both countries; institutionalization of WFP, review the existing WFP to meet the required standard by ILO and create awareness among the working mothers to understand and demand for their rights at work place. The study also proposes direction for future research on WFP in Africa." @default.
