- W3164376189 abstract "Lithium–sulfur batteries have made a great breakthrough in the new energy system. However, the poor conductivity of sulfur and feeble stability arisen from the dissolution of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) hinder its further application. In this work, a core–shell structure S@PPy/CB, in which sulfur is coated by the polypyrrole (PPy)-scattered carbon black (CB) via the in situ pyrrole polymerization and carbon disperse approach, is successfully synthesized. The S@PPy/CB with excellent conductivity effectively confines the shuttle effect of polysulfides and significantly enhances the utilization of sulfur. Prominently, the S@PPy/CB electrode (sulfur content of 72%) delivers a discharge capacity of 1301 mAh g–1 at 0.05 C and 888 mAh g–1 can be maintained after 200 cycles at 0.5 C, exhibiting an outstanding performance. Additionally, the S@PPy/CB composite displays an outstanding capability of confining LiPSs, providing a prospective strategy for wide application of lithium–sulfur batteries." @default.
