- W3165033295 abstract "Accurate phenotyping and its rapid acquisition/interpretation play a significant role in crop science research for deciphering the level of inheritance and expression of genes linked to agronomic traits to improve crop growth and productivity under different abiotic-stress conditions. Traditional phenotyping techniques for recording crop traits such as plant height, leaf color, and biomass rely on manual sampling, which is error prone, difficult, and time-consuming. The emergence of new automatic phenotyping and genotyping tool, namely, remote-sensing platforms like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has facilitated rapid, error free, and high-throughput phenotyping of essential traits. Besides, satellite imaging has also emerged as a powerful tool for phenotyping various agricultural applications. This chapter will cover the latest state-of-the-art tools and technologies developed for efficient phenotyping of plants at the field scale. Further, an overview of advancements, applications, limitations, and future perspectives of UAV phenotyping will also be discussed." @default.
