- W3167693208 abstract "Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were created for the first time in 2007, and can potentially form all cell types in the body. Recent progress in iPSC technology provides a promising tool for discovering new therapies for lung diseases since these cells can recapitulate both the development and maintenance of the airway epithelium in culture. iPSC-derived alveolar epithelia cell therapy can be effective therapeutic options for bronchopulmonary dysplasia and other lung diseases. In addition, iPSCs can be used for the development of personalized regenerative cell products for some severe pulmonary diseases and disorders. In this book chapter, we will describe the induced pluripotent stem cell-derived airway tissues and discuss the use of iPSCs in the therapy of lung diseases. We will also describe modeling of lung disease in culture and the role of iPSCs in this process." @default.
