- W3167895919 abstract "Thisstudy was aimed to compare the concentrations of minerals and trace elementsdetermined in serum and rumen content with rumen content and hematology ofhealthy cattle and those suffering from indigestion. For this purpose, a totalof 30 cattle were used; 10 of them are healthy (control group) and 20 of themare indigestion (indigestion group). Indigestion was diagnosed by case historyand thorough clinical examination. Hematological parameters did not differbetween diseased and healthy cattle. Of the trace elements tested, serumconcentrations of magnesium, calcium, and zinc decreased (P<0.05) whilecobalt increased (P<0.01) in cattle with indigestion. Ca level of rumencontent was significantly higher in the diseased group (P<0.05) but the serum levelwas lower (P<0.05) when compared to healthy cattle. In addition, a positivecorrelation was noted between values of rumen content and serum in the indigestiongroup and concentration of rumen and serum magnesium of the control group. Anegative correlation between serum Ca and rumen Ca level was determined in the indigestion group. Serum vitamin B1 was statistically (P<0.05) lower whilevitamin B12 unsignignificantly higher (P>0.05). In conclusion, serum Mg, Caand Zn concentrations decreased significantly in cattle suffering fromindigestion and can be exercised when planning treatment in terms of theseelements." @default.
