- W3168713972 abstract "Purpose – to develop and research a technology for high-quality steel smelting in a gas-oxygen refining unit. Methods – to smelt high-quality steel by duplex IF-GOR process, to work out the blowing and charging modes of melting in GOR unit, which will optimize the consumption factors of materials and gases for blowing, the ratio of liquid and solid components in the metal charge.Results. Due to the developed technology, research and experimental smelting, by the end of the dephosphorization period, the phosphorus content in the melt was 0.012 – 0.018 %, and the sulfur content at the end of the smelting did not exceed 0.030 %. The possibility of using up to 25 – 50 % solid Sponge in the metal charge loaded into the GOR converter has been proven. Economic efficiency of the process justified the advisability of increasing the proportion of solid Sponge in the metal charge, but, as the results of the performed melts have shown, additional measures are needed to improve the thermal capabilities of GOR unit. The chemical composition of the steels being melted met the regulatory requirements. Originality. Experimental melts made it possible to establish that in the initial period at high concentrations of FeO in the slag and low temperatures, dephosphorization proceeds with the formation of iron triphosphate (FeO)3Р2О5, and as lime dissolves, (4СаО ∙ Р2О5) and (3СаО ∙ Р2О5) are formed. The ratio of the concentration of FeO and CaO in the slag of the initial period was selected by the amount of introduced iron oxides and the amount of lime fed. It was confirmed that the decisive factors in the desulfurization were the absorption of lime and its dissolution, the introduction of the maximum allowable amount of slag and the provision of high fluidity of the slag.Practical implications. A technology for smelting high-quality steel from a metal charge with increased phosphorus and sulfur contents has been developed and mastered at a 20-ton GOR unit, the consumption coefficients of materials and gases for blowing have been determined, blowing modes and smelting with a variable ratio of solid and liquid components in the metal charge have been worked out." @default.
